Greta Gerwig on Making ‘Little Women’ ‘At the Speed of Life’

Greta Gerwig says she wanted to make her adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's “Little Women" “at the speed of life." Gerwig's film is the seventh big-screen version of the 1868 novel but one of the most vibrant. Gerwig says she wanted to tell the 19th Century story in present tense, and make it so lush that audience members would literally want to eat it. Sony Pictures will release “Little Women" on Christmas Day.
